Set Sail with Goals

At Wild Things, we chart our educational journey by setting sail with clear goals. We meticulously consider subjects like science, art, and physical education, seamlessly integrating them with our outdoor adventures. At the start of each day, we offer a provocation and resources that we hope inspires our students’ play for the day. With each provocation carefully designed, we aim to expose your child to the specific skills and knowledge needed for a well-rounded and enriching educational experience.

Crafting Your Outdoor Learning Curriculum

Building our play-based and nature-inspired learning curriculum is an exhilarating voyage, empowering us to cater to your child's unique interests and learning style. From enchanting nature walks to captivating outdoor science experiments, from immersive art projects to captivating storytelling sessions, the possibilities are boundless. Each day offers a precious opportunity to engage your child's curiosity, nurture their love for learning, and deepen their connection with the natural world.

Explore Nature's Classroom

Imagine a classroom where the world itself is your textbook, and nature stands as your teacher. Our vibrant outdoor settings provide a canvas for your child to explore a world of sensory delights—touching, smelling, and seeing everything around them. Whether we're venturing through sprawling forests or discovering hidden urban green spaces, each new location offers fresh opportunities for adventure, discovery, and lasting memories.

Let Curiosity Guide the Way

At Wild Things Outdoor Learning, we encourage your child to become a curious little explorer, embarking on a journey of self-discovery and wonder. We celebrate the innate curiosity of children, recognizing that the best learning happens when kids are free to follow their interests and play. Whether they're spotting bugs in the backyard, collecting leaves in the park, or splashing in puddles after a rainstorm, every moment spent outdoors is a precious opportunity for growth and exploration.

Engaging with the Little Ones and Finding the Teachable Moments

The most important part of play-based, outdoor learning is to follow the lead of the little ones, engage in what they are doing and embrace the teachable moments. Is your little one throwing rocks and leaves into a creek? Do it with them, and ask them questions about which is sinking and which is floating. Are they gathering sticks? Ask them which is the shortest and which is the longest, and then see if they want to order them with you. Using what they are already playing with to join in, introduce concepts and open up conversations leads to deeper learning and keeps their engagement and curiosity flowing.
